We are a restaurant with a novel take on the food and beverage business. We have built a small but complete restaurant that seats about 20 in the upscale Rockridge neighborhood of Oakland. Interested chefs apply on line (at www.theguestchef.net ) and if accepted are scheduled for a two week appearance. They need only bring the raw materials for their creations and we provide everything else. There is no fee but chefs contribute a portion of their gross food receipts. If a chef is successful then they are invited back for a return appearance and if they are a sensation then we help them set up a permanent location. We provide a cashier/hostess/coordinator and a dishwasher. . The hostess/coordinator will have to be food safety certified and be able to make sure that the chefs that are cooking are using accepted standards and step in diplomatically but decisively when they see things that are not being done correctly. Those are the two paid positions we intend to hire. But we are also very interested in hearing from those people who would like to come and cook.
What We Look For
We want the usual – motivated and self-directed people. It is important that our employees can think beyond the tasks and assignments they have been given and see what needs to be done. Especially given the dynamic nature of our business model every day will be a little different and every two weeks there will be a totally different person behind the cooking line who will run the restaurant a little differently.
