Well-established, family-owned property management industry leader seeks experienced full-time Bookkeeper for its Noe Valley office. We are a full-service property management and leasing company, San Francisco's original property management company that does NOT sell real estate. We currently manage over 500 rental units including single-family homes and all size multi-family residential properties.

Full Charge Bookkeeper – Job Description

The Bookkeeper is someone who can do it all - including compiling the property management data into the General Ledger and preparing financial statements. Full charge bookkeeper must be people-oriented and be able to interface constructively with a diverse group of people. This is a non-exempt hourly position.

General Duties
• Receives, enters, and deposits rents and receivables
• Pays bills and manages accounts payable for clients and for the company
• Pursues delinquencies and reports to Property Managers
• Charges management fees and prepares business operating statements for the company
• Compiles and organizes owners’ monthly statements and writes appropriate distribution checks
• Participates in preparation of company’s budget and performs initial analysis of underages and overages
• Performs monthly account reconciliation
• Keeps track of security deposit refunds for compliance with DRE laws
• Stays current with DRE and local rent ordinances (rent increases, deposit interest, etc.)
• Performing and pursuing rent increases for residential and commercial tenants
• Preparing and collecting bills from tenants including utilities and other owner reimbursements
• Management of property tax bills for clients
• Insurance policy oversight for clients and the company
• Solicitation of additional funds from owners
• Answering phones and dealing with customers required on an as-needed basis
• Filing and maintenance of records for accounts payable and receivable

Qualifications
The ideal candidate would be a motivated, self-starter who is strongly detail oriented and is comfortable working closely with others. Candidate must be very neat and well organized and be self-assured in their work.

Must be able to pass rigorous criminal, credit, and driving background checks and be extremely ethical and trustworthy.

Education and/or Experience
Bachelor’s degree from accredited four-year institution strongly preferred but not required. Appropriate experience (minimum four years) within the field of real estate or especially property management may substitute for education.

Language Skills
Good communication skills are essential. Must be able to read, write, and speak English clearly. Candidate will communicate with vendors, customers, tenants, owners, and government agencies.

Computer Skills
Must be comfortable using Mac OS, Microsoft Windows, Microsoft Office (including Word and Excel), as well as QuickBooks online. Knowledge of property management software such as AppFolio is a plus. Must touch-type and ten-key proficiently.

Mathematical Skills
Ability to calculate interest, amortization, commissions, percentages, ratios, fractions, proportions proficiently. Ability to perform higher-level analysis of financial statements and recognize financial trends is desirable but not essential.

Reasoning Ability
Ability to define, problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Other Skills and Abilities
Ability to work flexible hours which may exceed 8 hours in a day, 5 days in a week, or 40 hours in a week. Knowledge of San Francisco neighborhoods, streets, and districts. Must be able to perform basic customer service over the phone and in person. Second language skills also a plus.

Work Environment
Expect interruptions during the work day. Be able to multi-task, handling and prioritizing a number of different requests at once.
