We are accepting applications for a Full-Time Store Manager position at our Polk Store location.

Through a strong commitment to customer service and the company’s mission statement the Store Manager is responsible for the overall performance of the store. The Store Manager must oversee all financial, operational, and personnel related aspects including sales and cash flow, maintenance, merchandising, and staff development. The Store Manager must exhibit strong qualities of leadership and works closely with ownership to recognize the company’s vision.

JOB FUNCTIONS
Essential
Front End/Cash Handling
• Lead our customer service initiative by ensuring that employees are trained, know what is expected, and are held accountable to consistently delight our customers
• Ensure adherence to good cash handling policies including change making, monitoring cashier procedures and drawer count outs, safe counts, paid outs, processing deposits and DSRs
• Troubleshoot and implement cash handling standards
• Swiftly correct problems
Products, Merchandising and Sales Growth
• Troubleshoot underperformance, work with Department Managers to develop and implement strategies for increased sales and maintaining margin targets
• Monitor signage and promotions
• Work with department managers to maintain and develop displays, sets and re-sets
• Stay abreast of products and industry trends. Maintain a good working knowledge of current products in all departments. Supervise introduction of new products or product lines.
• Know, understand and uphold ingredient and quality standards of The Real Food Company
• Develop Customer Service programs, Special Order & Special Service Programs.
• Supervise sampling, demo and in-store promotion programs
• Oversee inventory management, monitor and reduce shrink
• Oversee receiving and vendor relations, including monitoring billing and credits
Staff Development
• Recruit and hire employees at all levels who will positively contribute
• Use positive communication with personnel to develop programs, implement and train, retrain or coach regarding customer service, product awareness, presentation, quality assurance, food handling, maintenance, health and safety
• Train and coach department managers on team building and supervisory and management standards
• Enforce company policies and disciplinary process
• Work to promote enthusiasm and teamwork among staff.
• Perform timely performance and wage reviews
• Work with Admin to ensure HR legal compliance
• Work to resolve personnel conflicts and grievances

Office and Administration
• In-store generation and/or analysis of sales figures
• In-store implementation of necessary HR record keeping and procedures, including dissemination of information, writing incident reports, worker’s comp claims, and proper handling of employee complaints or grievances.
• Adherence to all Health and Safety guidelines as set by Company Policy (IIPP), Dept of Public Health, OSHA and any other applicable agencies.
• Adherence to all product standard guidelines, both Company-generated and required by outside agencies
• Other necessary paperwork and filing as needed
Other Operations
• Attend and participate in regular meetings with all levels of personnel
• Attend necessary training and conferences for professional development
• Maintain fixtures, equipment and the physical plant
• Monitor and correct for safe equipment handling
• Develop and maintain systems for organization of equipment
• Perform health and safety inspections and hazard evaluations, monitor and correct safe food handling/storage procedures
• Know and train in emergency procedures and security on the sales floor
Other Functions
• Performs other duties assigned by the General Manager or Ownership.

PHYSICAL/ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS:
• Ability to safely handle up to #20 cases, containers, and bags
• Standing for up to eight hours
• Job involves repetitive tasks, including computer data entry
• Exposure to food ingredients and cleaning agents
• Working indoors and out, also in refrigeration

JOB REQUIREMENTS:
• Minimum five years retail experience, three years management or supervisory experience, two years buying experience preferred
• Commitment to customer service
• Working familiarity and a commitment to continued education in all aspects of natural foods retailing: product lines, merchandising, business and product trends
• Thorough understanding of retail financial operations especially sales and margin
• Familiarity with personnel management including legal responsibilities
• Certification or good practices in safe food handling and sanitation
• Ability to comprehend and assure compliance with all regulations and policies governing operations, both from the Company and from Government agencies such as the DPH
• Familiarity with Word and Excel
• Ability to read and understand daily sales and cost figures. Must be familiar with profit margins, mark-ups, financial reports, and budgets.
• Familiar with maintenance, operation and safety standards for retail grocery
• Must possess a record of successful staff supervision and leadership
