Proven.com Joins the Fight to Help Veterans Find Employment - August 5, 2011

Jobs are hard to come by in this economy, but they’re even harder for veterans. More than one million veterans are currently out of work, and the unemployment rate for many young veterans hovers at more than 13 percent.

President Barack Obama has challenged the private sector to help veterans get jobs, by proposing tax credits for companies that hire returning service members. He’s also asking for the creation of what he calls “reverse boot camps” to train veterans for civilian jobs.

Proven.com agrees, it’s important to get our veterans employment. That’s why we've launched a new service on our jobs site, exclusively for our nation’s heroes. Proven’s exclusive “Veteran Badge” offers workers the ability to prove their veteran status on their job profiles.

"Over the last few years, another generation of young veterans has learned that the challenges don’t end in Kandahar or Baghdad,” Obama said at the Washington Navy Yard. “They continue right here at home. Today, we’re saying to our veterans, you fought for us, and now we’re fighting for you."

We couldn’t agree more Mr. President. Our "Veterans Badge" is a small, but important way that Proven.com is taking part in the Joining Forces Initiative.
