About the position

You will work hand in hand with our head baker in the production of doughs, including mixing, kneading, shaping, rolling out (with a sheeter) and lining dough. Our doughs include: sourdough, croissant dough, brioche dough, pie dough, focaccia... You will also assist in crafting our line of morning pastries (i.e croissants, chocolate croissants, donuts…) and various breads, from dough making & shaping to proofing and final bake.

Key responsibilities:

  • Making various types of dough such as sweet dough, quiche dough, focaccia, brioche, laminated dough, sourdough, and various bread doughs.
  • Shape, roll-out (on a commercial sheeter) and lining dough in open ring molds
  • Shape, proof and bake off pastries and breads according to vive la tarte’s specific standards and designs. This includes operating commercial ovens, sheeter, mixers and fryers.
  • Organize weekly bakery production in an efficient and structured way.
  • Maintain a clean working station at all times, as well as an organized and up-to-date inventory of dry storage and refrigeration space.
  • Operate quickly and efficiently in a fast-paced, time-driven environment, while ensuring consistent, high quality products.

Who You Are

  • Minimum 1 year experience as a baker/pastry position in a high quality establishment (bakery or restaurant).
  • Good knowledge of dough mixing and bread making (incl. shaping, proofing and baking croissants, breads and other pastry products).
  • Culinary degree preferred.
  • Efficient, clean and great time management.
  • Strong team player, who collaborates with the rest of the kitchen staff to ensure all tasks are done on time.
  • Punctual and reliable to arrive on time.
  • Must have the physical ability to carry out functions described above, which includes but not limited to: standing most of the work day, lift >50lb.
  • Valid Food Handler’s Card.

What We Offer

  • Hours & schedule:
    • Minimum of 25 hours a week, including at least one weekend day.
    • Work afternoon shifts (typically 1 pm – 7 pm), 4-5 days/week
