The Chapel is a dynamic music venue, restaurant and bar located on Valencia Street in the heart of the Mission. The F&B program extends throughout the building including the restaurant, main bar, and food and drink sales in the music venue. We’re seeking a General Manager of F&B capable of running restaurant and bar operations while taking responsibility for the overall success of the food and beverage program.

The General Manager of F&B is a new position that requires understanding the vibe of the music crowds as well as the Mission neighborhood, and creating a restaurant/bar experience that draws from both. No two nights are alike at the Chapel, and the GM will need to have the ability to be flexible in a constantly changing environment, while maintaining control and oversight. The position will suit an experienced numbers whiz who can control costs via smart staffing and strong financial oversight, and who will recognize opportunities to increase revenue.

The General Manager, F&B will oversee all restaurant and bar operations, reporting to the Director of Operations.

 

Primary responsibilities:

  • Elevate the guest experience by ensuring every guest has great food and drinks as well as excellent service – regardless of where they are in the building
  • Create a professional yet casual atmosphere where guests feel comfortable and well cared-for
  • Supervise all aspects of restaurant and bar operations; hire, train, and manage staff; ensure compliance with all local, state and federal regulations and requirements
  • Fiscally control finances of the food and beverage program by increasing revenue and controlling product and labor costs
  • Participate in strategic planning/budgeting both for the F&B operations as well as the overall business
  • Coordinate and communicate all policies of the company to personnel under your supervision
  • Maintain an in-depth knowledge of CHAPEL products and services in all facets of the business
  • Work closely with senior management to coordinate the day-to-day successful operation of the business
  • Work with the Marketing Manager to create exciting marketing initiatives and analyze their success
  • Represent the Chapel restaurant and bar in local neighborhood as well as city-wide meetings and organizations; ensure the Chapel’s participation in events as appropriate

 

Requirements:

  • Extensive restaurant management experience required, including experience managing all aspects of restaurant and bar operations
  • Experience in an environment that includes live entertainment is a strong plus
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to bring out the best in both individuals and teams
  • Proven ability to work well with management teams to bring about the success of a business
  • Experience managing the execution of banquets and other private events
  • Understanding of current trends in food and beverage, with the ability to advise on product pricing and selection
  • Experience with Aloha, CTUIT, and TripleSeat, as well as scheduling software and Excel
