We have been doing business as a full line produce wholesaler in Los Angeles since the early 1900's. We are located in the Downtown Los Angeles area where we have 16 doors and 32 truck spaces for loading and receiving and 24,000 square feet of warehouse space. We have 8000 square feet of refrigerated storage on the market. Our sales departments can supply our customers with produce from the finest growers worldwide.

Credit & Collections Manager

The Credit and Collections Manager will lead the Accounts Receivable team. This individual will have day to day responsibilities for cash application and cash management and controls, credit management, collections, dispute resolution, customer set up and the Accounts Receivable close. This individual will be responsible for leading and managing a strong dynamic team, monitoring cash and collections metrics, maintaining and enhancing processes and controls, and timely, effective and collaborative communication with cross functional colleagues and company management to manage and mitigate risk.


Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Oversee of the daily cash applications process ensuring timely and accurate processing of cash to customer accounts.
  • Manage cashier processes enabling efficient store operations, controlled cash management and daily reconciliation of cashier’s activities.
  • Review and assess new and existing customer risk profiles and determine terms of sales, including credit limits and payment terms.
  • Manage customer set up and risk-related master data to ensure efficient monitoring, reporting and risk management. Review and analyze credit risk information, payment history, current events affecting clients and other available information to provide recommendations to management.
  • Manage the relationship with third party credit insurer and leverage their data and insights as an extension of internal risk management processes.
  • Ensure that short pays and customer deductions are reconciled and follow up to determine actions required to address and clear from customer accounts. Oversee the research and analysis of customer disputes and drive timely resolution.
  • Manage the process for issuing customer credits ensuring that credits are provided only under legitimate circumstances and with accurate documentation supporting the credit transaction.
  • Provide direct management of high risk accounts, recommend and review risk management plan with company management (CFO and COO) and communicate with internal business partners to ensure alignment.
  • Lead weekly team meetings to discuss and review customer accounts, provide guidance in collections and deductions resolution, and address road blocks or other issues impacting effective account management.
  • Prepare weekly and monthly reports to monitor and communicate key performance indicators including DSO, customer aging, collections effectiveness and status of high risk accounts. Work with Controller to reconcile accounts receivable to the general ledger and to address any billing-related issues.


Job Requirements:

  • Minimum of 5 year management experience in Accounts Receivable, preferably in a retail environment.
  • Proven leadership experience managing multiple competing tasks and able to execute on deliverables within given time frame.
  • Must be proficient with Excel; experience with SAP or large ERP system preferred.
  • Must have excellent written, presentation and verbal communication skills.
  • Must have the ability to pay close attention to detail and understand written and oral instructions. Must have the ability to organize and schedule work effectively.
  • Must be able to interact effectively and collaboratively with employees at all levels.
  • Must be flexible with work schedules and be available to work some weekends, and some non-traditional hours, with or without advanced notice.
  • Must be able to operate in a fast-paced organization and handle multiple projects simultaneously
