Alamo Drafthouse Cinema is coming to Lower Manhattan and we are looking for the next General Manager who want to join us as we deliver an awesome experience to our guests. Alamo Drafthouse Cinema is a place for movies, special presentations & programs, creative and delicious food made from our scratch kitchen with amazing beer, cocktails, shakes, and beverages of all sorts, all under one roof

The General Manager is a brand representative who reinforces the company goals, values and mission statement while ensuring Alamo Drafthouse Cinema’s standards of quality and service are accomplished. They are also responsible for the efficient and profitable execution of the venue. This includes all salaried managers in their deployment and management of every area including, but not limited to Box Office/Server/Runner/Bar and Kitchen operations; identifying maintenance issues; creating relationships with vendors; creating new avenues of revenue; marketing; social media; VICTORY memberships; community involvement and charities; fostering a cooperative and productive environment for teams; Private & Corporate Events; special programming; pricing; Chef/KM and menu/dinner execution; market share. To that end, the General Manager has oversight over scheduling, deploying, and maintaining open and transparent relationships with ownership and every category in the house.

 

FOCUSES:

  • Financials as they pertain to Sales/Flow-Through/EBITDAR/Inventory/PPA
  • Facilities in terms of operations and appearance • Guest Satisfaction as measured by NPS/comps, etc.
  • OER/Steritech/Health Dept., and all other external metrics measuring standards
  • Bench Development and communication as measured in ENPS, turnover, etc.

 

DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • GM will lead weekly operations meeting
  • Time management and organizing priorities is key to the success of this position. Success will be measured in terms of “flow-through” which is the measurement of EBITDAR; in building successful and productive relationships with corporate support resources; in executing and innovating systems and procedures designed to push the brand forward while strictly adhering to brand standards.
  • GM will lead weekly Creative meeting
  • GM will lead quarterly All-Staff meeting wherein s/he will discuss financials and upcoming events
  • GM will manage branding in marketplace
  • GM will develop backfill and training routines to improve retention
  • GM is responsible for everything that could fail in the building
  • GM manages all COGs for the building - the final approval for purchases and expenditures rests here
  • GM demonstrates knowledge of competitors
  • GM recognizes deficiencies in process or program and suggests/develops alternatives/improvements
  • GM capitalizes on opportunities to enhance and expand audience and experiences
  • GM will prepare brand for expansion through scalable exercises and repeatable routines
  • GM will provide monthly breakdowns of P&L for Area Director and Ownership Board
  • GM will develop their team of salaried managers
  • GM will deliver reviews of salaried team on a quarterly basis
  • GM will deliver bonuses for good performance

GENERAL MANAGER

  • GM will oversee recruitment of all staff
  • GM maintains staffing levels
  • GM will manage corrective actions for poor performance
  • GM is responsible for dissemination of corporate and ownership directive

MEASURE OF SUCCESS:

  • Develop and Manage Lead Roles
  • Manage P&L to COGs (to budget)
  • Manage NPS (to 70%)
  • Manage P&L to Flow-Through (EBITDAR to budget - goal 40%)
  • Manage eNPS (to 80%)
  • Manage Labor to target percentage
  • Manage Labor to per/100 percentage
  • Manage Turnover to standard (70%)

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School Diploma/GED or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Two (2) years minimum as a high-volume venue Manager with extensive knowledge of total operations (previous
  • theater management is beneficial)
  • ServSafe Certification, local Health Cards (as required) and local required health certifications 
  • Proven leadership and motivational skills
  • Displays a professional appearance and is a positive role model within the restaurant and corporate office
  • Excellent guest relations skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • High guest satisfaction expectations and focus
  • Resourceful problem-solving skills
  • Self-motivated and driven
  • Strong ability to multitask projects simultaneously
  • Holds self and others accountable to consistently maintain high performance standards
  • Basic computer knowledge (Microsoft Office) and office skills required
  • Expected work week of 50 hours minimum; higher volume seasons and heavier work weeks are expected

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Work is typically performed in the venue. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. The work involves a majority of standing, bending, stooping, twisting, climbing and some lifting up to 50 lbs.

HAZARDS:

  • Only those present in a normal theater venue setting; no known significant hazards.
