We are a leading after school, Singapore Mathematics Enrichment Center, located in Long Island, NY.  We believe that every child is a hero, a Future Leader and has an infinite capacity to learn. We approach mathematics teaching and learning differently in a fun, energetic and inspirational environment. Our approach to teaching the foundations of math makes learning math more meaningful and relatable. It involves critical thinking, logical reasoning, metacognition, word problems and modeling techniques. Our students range from age 3 to 14 years old. Our proven method of teaching helps with problem solving, encourages thinking process and most importantly interpret mathematics in real world applications through problem solving. We have multiple openings for a Center Director and skilled instructors who love teaching math, love working with kids, and have the ability to motivate students to succeed. Our students work through their customized Singapore Math learning plans so there is no lesson planning required, and instructors apply the teaching methods presented during training.

JOB SUMMARY

We are looking for dynamic and creative Math Teachers who will teach through the conceptualization of mathematical content. As a Math Teacher, we want you to maximize student mastery of mathematics by going beyond simply teaching computational math by enabling your scholars to conceptualize math concepts and show them how to apply math content to their everyday lives!

Our Learning Center Instructor will:

Provide effective math instruction using our preferred teaching methods *Assist in tracking the progress of each student * Complete administrative tasks as they are assigned * Contribute to the creation of an engaging and productive learning environment * Engage in initial and on-going training.

JOB DESCRIPTION/RESPONSIBILITIES

• Private and Semi-Private Singapore Math Enrichment Teaching with highest integrity.
• Coach lower grades and/or middle school mathematics to build core skills and instill a love of mathematical thinking.
• Execute lesson plans that meet core learning goals with effective mathematical thinking and problem solving.
• Maintain complete and accurate records of each student’s progress. Use student data to reflect on effectiveness of lessons and student achievement progress in order to improve instruction and personal practice.
• Practice professionalism through ongoing professional development, reflection and continuous improvement. Willing to attend workshops if necessary to enhance education and actively seek professional development.
• Collaborate with colleagues in innovative ongoing development.
• Communicate with parents in formal and informal written correspondence, meetings, and overall positive collaboration.
• Other minor duties as assigned.

• Contribute to a climate where students are actively engaged in a meaningful learning experience. Must believe in, and be able to uphold the quality of our training pedagogy to students. Training will be provided.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATION:

• The ideal candidate is outgoing, well organized, competent in basic computer skills, and is an individual who is eager to work in a highly dynamic, energetic setting
• Preferred New York State Math teaching certification or eligibility to be certified (not mandatory)
• Preferred at least 2 year experience in the enrichment education industry for young children. Teaching credentials are a plus but are not mandatory.
• Aptitude in Math. Candidates will be given an aptitude test
• Ability to organize and manage multiple responsibilities successfully
• Ability to do light physical activities such as bending, reaching and lifting

EMPLOYMENT BENEFITS/RATE

• Competitive! Compensation ($15-$25/hr) is commensurate with experience and availability.

JOB TYPE:

• PART-TIME. Hours may vary, but could include Monday-Thursday between 3:00 pm-8:00 pm, Saturdays between 10:00 am-3:30 pm. Approximately 2 -25 hours/week (flexible)

SHIFTS:

Consistent and scheduled, yet flexible. Available a minimum of two days/week during after-school or weekend hours.

Job Type: Part-time

Salary: $15.00 to $25.00 /hour

Experience:

• Teaching: 2+ year (Preferred)
