Foxtail Catering & Events (www.foxtailcatering.com) is seeking a talented, motivated Chef de Cuisine for our Events Program.  We are a chef-directed, full-service event planning and catering company in SF's Dogpatch District.  We endeavor to bring Michelin-level culinary standards to a catering setting.  Our culinary leadership comes from top-rated restaurant kitchens in the Bay Area and elsewhere, and we are fortunate to have the opportunity to work consistently with talented cooks from some of the best kitchens in the area.  We strive to source great local products, and to use solid culinary technique to make the best food possible in a wide range of contexts, using flavors and aesthetics that range from classic to contemporary.
The Chef de Cuisine position offers competitive salary and benefits, primarily daytime hours, definite potential for long-term growth and advancement within a thriving and rapidly changing company that has seen exponential growth for each of the past few years. The Chef de Cuisine position is responsible for the operation, further development, and onsite execution of the Foxtail Catering & Events culinary program.  This position requires an accurate and comprehensive knowledge of all events being produced by Foxtail at all times to ensure seamless event operations.  S/he works with a team of chefs and managers to ensure the highest quality standard of operation in the Foxtail culinary program.  

The Chef de Cuisine position requires a high degree of dedication, organization, and flexibility. It demands a well-trained palate, food knowledge that is both detailed and wide-ranging.  Qualified candidates will exhibit an exceptional level of passion, creativity, maturity and commitment.  Management style is as important to us as culinary knowledge -- we seek a manager who will lead by example and who can use an instructive style to empower and motivate his or her team to give their all on a daily basis.  The expectations for efficiency, responsibility and dedication we place on our staff are consistent with those found in fine dining restaurant kitchens, but we value respectful communication, the creation of opportunities for advancement & growth, and the cultivation of individual confidence and creativity among all our cooks, from the greenest to the most experienced.  We are looking for someone who can demonstrate teamwork and humility and will be an integral part of helping us make this program the unequivocal best of its kind in the city.
  • Must have exceptional organizational and time management skills as well as an acute attention to detail.
  • Must have outstanding communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Must have exceptional culinary skills including a well developed palate and must possess a contemporary plating aesthetic.
  • Must possess a management style based on accountability and honesty, and an interest in teaching and team building, and leading by example.
  • Must have great computer skills and extensive experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Google Sheets.
  • Must be efficient with administrative duties.
  • Must be punctual, reliable, and detail oriented.
  • Must be an adaptable, flexible team player with an outstanding attitude and an understanding of the big picture.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE: Two to Five years' experience in EACH of the following environments/roles:

  • Fine Catering and/or Corporate Dining
  • Fine Dining Restaurants
  • High Level Culinary Management including food development, onsite execution, catering specific logistical knowledge, budget analysis and maintenance, production scheduling, problem solving, and critical financial interpretation. 
  • Team Management


  • Bilingual Spanish/English
