Colony Palms Hotel is one of Palm Springs’ most iconic and luxurious downtown hotels.  Located just one block off the city’s main downtown strip and built in the 1930s, the 57-room resort retains many charming features of the original Spanish colonial architecture, from arched entryways and coved ceilings to original Moorish floor tiles and is home to the Purple Palms Restaurant.

We are currently interviewing for a Sales & Event Manager.  This position will be overseeing and managing sales operations to ensure the achievement of the hotel group rooms and restaurant event revenue, profit and client satisfaction goals.  The scope of this role includes developing and implementing successful sales and marketing activities to secure new business, maintain existing business clientele relationships, negotiate new business, and oversee the coordinate of execution of the events and banquets with other departments. 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Manages the sales efforts for the hotel & restaurant
  • Solicits/books events, banquet, and group rooms business
  • Serve the client by understanding their needs and recommending the appropriate features and services that best meet their needs and exceed their expectations
  • Executes and supports the operational aspects of business booked:
  • Negotiate food and beverage prices, function space, and hotel services
  • Provide client proposals and write contracts
  • Generate all customer correspondence
  • POS & PMS system: Input and access information
  • Event management system : Input and update information
  • Is a resource for the General Manager(s) in developing strategies and annual business plans
  • Actively participates in community events and activities as a hotel representative
  • Attend and participates in local business/trade events

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Previous experience as a sales manager in a luxury hotel or upscale restaurant.
  • College degree
  • Good computer skills (Microsoft Office, g-mail, POS systems, automated property management system such as OPERA, Open Table)
  • Minimum 21 years of age to serve alcoholic beverages.
